Estate Margins

In 2000, agriculture received a mandate from Government and conservation bodies to integrate acres of diversity into farms across the United Kingdom. We took this as the opportunity that it was and have worked tirelessly to cultivate our margins to make up 5% of our total farmed land. We believe that by carefully planning the structure of these margins and developing habitat for a range of wildlife, we reduce our water use, pesticide use and overall cost of production.

Six metre margins now exist under ELS and HLS agreements around most fields on the estate. We are exploring ways of diversifying these margins with wildflower mixes and improved winter bird feed cover.
